From the Gateshead uplands to the Tyne Delta, the band was originally formed in 1996 and has been a regular feature on the Tyneside R&B circuit for over 20 years. The current Lounge Lizards line-up only came together in September 2014 when Geoff Blanch (ex Daytona Blues Band) came on board. Dom Hornsby (The King Bees) joined on keyboards in Spring 2015. A new rhythm section of Dave Tomlinson (bass) and Brian Ward (drums) was recruited early in 2018. We have come from very different musical backgrounds including Blues, Rock & Roll, Jazz Funk and even Punk. Our previous bands include No Time for Jive, The Dry Lakes Blues Band, Daytona Blues Band, Off The Wall. Our extensive musical references, diverse backgrounds and high level of musicianship creates a unique brand of Red Hot Rhythm & Blues with a shot of Rock & Roll on the side. Our set includes a range of upbeat rhythm and blues by artists like The Animals, Canned Heat, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Slim Harpo, Wynonie Harris, Hank Ballard, Wilko Johnson, Spencer Davis Group, Little Walter, T Bone Walker etc.
